Inspired by the SCOTUS leaked draft opinion in early 2022 regarding the eventual overturn of Roe v Wade. I hand-wrote excerpts from the leaked SCOTUS opinion into the background of this painting. I could only see a singing canary in my head when I heard the news. That this would be the first political opinion of many to come. I was finishing the artwork with a stitched red thread collar the day news broke the opinion was made official.
